Here is a wonderful opportunity to feed the hungry in our community.  We have a beef supplier that is willing to provide us with fresh hamburger for $1.29 a pound.  Fresh hamburger is an item that our pantries are in great need of and one that isn’t donated very often.

Here’s the opportunity:  If a person donates $129.00 to Love INC for the purchase of 100 pounds of hamburger, they qualify for a great tax benefit.

Love INC is a certified food bank by the State of Michigan.  This enables people who donate to Love INC, a 50% tax credit as well as an itemized deduction on their federal tax returns.

What this means is that a $129.00 donation allows a person to receive a state tax credit of $64.50 and a federal deduction that returns approximately $20.00!  The bottom line is that a person can donate $129.00 to purchase 100 lbs. of fresh meat for an out of pocket cost of $44.50!
