Did you know we have amazing men at our Harbor Hall? When you think of homelessness, you might have images you may have seen on TV or another stereo-type someone has shared with you. The men at Harbor Hall are none of these. They are men who go through a stringent process and have committed themselves to an intense program. They are at a place in life where they have an opportunity to change their situation and they have come to Love INC for help. They are building their testimony.
The reason I share this with you is because these men are enjoying the support of the many volunteers and we have a way for you to get involved. Each night we are looking for a couple or small group to bring the men an evening meal.
“Take them a meal” is an amazing ministry. Some of the men may never of known the concept of Love; especially the Love of Christ. Through this ministry they might have the opportunity to see how a loving couple interacts. You might be seen as a caring sister or aunt. Through you they might see the joy in a grandma’s eyes or the strength of a Christian man. These are all unique touches that are indescribable and impacting. Recently a family spent several hours at Harbor Hall on New Years’ Day and the men at Harbor Hall were still talking about it two weeks later. . . they had a blast!
So how do you get involved? Well it’s easy. All you need to do is bring the mean an evening meal by 6:00 p.m. This is the fun part, you have so many options.
- You can use food in our pantry at Harbor Hall, or bring food from home.
- You can prepare a meal at home or at Harbor Hall in a fully functioning kitchen or a portion at home and the rest at Harbor Hall.
- Once the meal is prepared, you can leave or stay and enjoy the company of the men; break bread with them and get to know them.
- We have kitchen prep-ware and all the items needed to serve the meal.
